Tuesday 11th of October was a day to be remembered for everyone involved at the Løvstakken project in Bergen. Representatives from Bybanen Utbygging were joined by the site management from Marti and subcontractors Vassbakk & Stol, Renesco, Anleggsgartnermester Wikholm, NCC and Construcciones Madonu for the final walk through the light rail tunnel, outside area and pedestrian/cyclist tunnels, which will soon be buzzing with tram trains and pedestrians and cyclists alike.
The final pipe sections between the Skullerud water treatment plant and the existing shaft in Enebakkveien was installed on September 20th. A week later, the entire pipe installation was successfully function tested with 21 bar pressure test, and approved by the client.
The Løvstakk project is approaching the final stages of construction. After the successful and timely handover of the light rail tunnel to Bybanen Utbygging in the beginning of February 2022, the major focus area of the last few months has been the pedestrian and bicycle tunnel running parallel to the light rail tunnel.
The last blast on the Skullerud tunnel took place exactly at 1400 on January 13th. Of course there were a gathering at the final blast, where also the mountain trolls got their shot of cognac in order to be happy.
In Norway, Bergen is also known as Syvfjellsbyen (City of Seven Mountains). Through one of these mountains, Løvstakken, which is 477 meters high, a line is set to run for Bergen’s light rail system, the Bybanen, as part of a constantly expanding network. The expertise of the tunneling crew from Marti AS Norway is in demand in this project.
